50% IS actually very high. Bear in mind that some PS4 purchases are for casual buyers or parents who only have a desire for disc based or single player games. They are unaware or do not understand the benefits of the subscription cost of PlayStation Plus.
Early last year Forbes reported that Microsoft having sold 77million 360s had 46 million* subscribers to Xbox Live. *However it must be underlined that this included subscribers to the free Silver service! So the actual numb...
I'm gonna miss you Jack Tretton.
It does have 1080p 60fps but the graphics whilst good are not in the same league as Ryse or inFamous. So higher res and frame rate can be achieved by leaving out effects.
Microtransations will play a much bigger part in this new generation - however it is important to distinguish between the different types. Some are you pay for cosmetic extras like a new paint job for your car or new castle in an RPG. However the BAD kind of micro transactions are in a game where the levels have purposefully been designed to be difficult so that the player effectively must pay for extras to make them passable - and this is so bad.
Microtransactions are barel...
It is just the start of this generation so there aren't that many exclusives, but I would have focused on the games that are unique to Xbone. Perhaps just making a top five list.
The PlayStation business IS doing well but the other Sony & Columbia business isn't. $80 million loss is actually relatively minor considering the worldwide launch of the PS4 and promotion and advertising, and purchase of Gakai.
Now when a conglomerate like Sony is making a loss it doesn't automatically mean imminent closure. Amazon USA has been making a loss for years but banks continue to invest because they see that as part of the business model and they believ...
Mario & Luigi are technically 'ethnic whites.'
I think this year it is fashionable to bust Nintendo's chops about being anti-gay or anti-ethnic minorities but I don't think they are at all. In the 80s a Japanese man created the character Mario, an Italian-American plumber. As the range of games expanded we learnt he had a brother (also Italian) and a woman he was in love with. Now all Nintendo have done is created games with stories about that small group...
It's just an indirect way of smack talking the PS4 and saying it has a limit to its power (obviously.) Instead of insulting their sponsor's competitor Crytek should stop complaining and try and bring their graphics expertise to consoles in a game with deep engrossing playability.
What are you doing Spencer? Aaron Greenberg is abrasive, arrogant, rude about the competition and has about as much charm as Major Nelson. Talk about 'jobs for the boys.' This is one thing that Microsoft does wrong they just hire and promote the people they are friends with regardless of suitability. It's one of the reasons that Nintendo and Sony's executive teams have an international roster of staff and Microsoft's is staunchly American only.
I'd love to play the original Halo games in high definition 720p 60fps.
When will they say 'we've listened' about their parity clause?
360 leads the Call of Duty sales. Am genuinely surprised to see that the PS3 is outselling the XB one version. However this reflects its lower than hoped for sales.
In case your wondering for multiformat games NPD lists them in order of highest selling first.
At first I was surprised inFamous is leading USA sales and not Titanfall because FPS games are amongst the nation's favourites. The hype and the bundled units helped Titanfall, but I'm hearing that some people stop playing after a couple of weeks. Personally I didn't love inFamous. I played it, I liked it, I traded it in. Lovely effects hampered by sammy gameplay.
I'm glad to hear that Sony feel they've got 'exciting' news!
@eternal1973. Don't worry about Major Nelson feeling dizzy. Blurting out Xbox 180s is like water of a duck's back for him.
What is the point of a four star grading system?
@badz149 Watching that video still cracks me up! It's just unbelievable how it completely sums up what their focus for the console was.
@the_Infected you said "I'd like to thank Phil for listening and making things better." It is good that Spencer is reversing some bad decisions, in the same way some decisions were reversed in June 2013. I like that Games with Gold has been modelled on the bountiful PlayStation Plus model, it means a better service for customers. However Spencer shouldn't just ape what is popular on the other platforms, he shouldn't just chase NPD sales numbers. There should be a plan ...
The Sony Instant Games Collection model works really well and when people who had upgraded from a 360 to PS4 dropped their Live subscriptions Microsoft had to react.
"The Xbox One price drop isn't just to boost sales!"
Jimmy Reckon!
@theshonen8899 You hit the nail on the head. Ports won't do it because most Vita owners will have access to the superior home console version, and if you have a PS4 then via Remote Play you can play the superior home console version.
What Vita needs is unique games, perhaps in the same universe as bigger titles. Eg AC Liberation with Aveline sold nearly 1 million. An inFamous game or Watch Dog game with different characters could also do well. Hopefully this rumoured GT...
